Alpine-style low-height acclimatization pivot
Bielecki describes this as an accidental discovery. The 'acclimatization' on Tilicho Peak was so rewarding that it changed his life. The protocols of big commercial mountains (pre-set timetables, track sharing with other teams) were replaced by the raw challenge of finding a base camp, watching the mountain for days to learn its rhythm, and choosing a line. This became his preferred style, validating that height is just one difficulty vector.
His first 'acclimatization' climb on Tilicho Peak was the moment he realized his true passion was for the process on peaks where he had full autonomy, not the queues on the 8000m giants.
this climb on that seven-thousander was so satisfying ... and so very close to my idea of adventure. Much closer than those previous climbs on eight-thousanders.
