Low-dose nicotine for performance and fasting
DeLauer bases this protocol on his personal experimentation and the research he cited. He notes that the fat loss and cognitive benefits occur at low doses, and that the effects persist after the peak due to sustained low-level receptor activation. He warns that addiction potential is real, so he limits use to specific high-need situations. He also suggests that those with insulin resistance should monitor their response.
Nicotine binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, increasing acetylcholine, enhancing cognitive and neuromuscular function. It also triggers lipolysis in adipose tissue and may induce alkalosis to buffer exercise-induced acidity.
I will use a low dose of nicotine now and then but it's not something I use every day. It's something I use when I'm working out extra hard and I want that extra like little benefit. It's something I might use when I'm fasting because it could help me out there.
When I do use nicotine, which is not super often, I'll only use maybe a/4 to a half a milligram personally.
