The Secret Place (Daily Private Prayer)
Angela details that this private time is where she hears God’s voice about what to share and what to keep private. She references a missionary couple in Brazil who have a rule: if you didn’t spend time with Jesus, don’t even go out to minister that day. This protects against the temptation to rely on talent or charisma. Ariel describes coming to God like a little girl, brutally honest about her failures, and that daily dependence is what sustains her. The ‘secret place’ preserves authenticity and prevents ministry from becoming a performance.
Angela: ‘If I don't spend time with Jesus, I have nothing to offer in a microphone. I have nothing to say. I will not go.’ Ariel: ‘In my private time, you would laugh so hard. It is literally hilarious. Again, I'm like a little girl. I'm like, Dad, I need help cuz this is really hard.’
What happens in the secret place is secret, right? It's like you have conversations with God that nobody hears about. And then there are things that happen in the secret place that I believe the Lord allows you to share.
