Phone Time Audit and Reallocation
Scott outlines this as his exact mentoring protocol. He first establishes trust by confessing his own weaknesses, then asks to see the mentee’s phone. Within minutes he can locate the wasted time. He tells them, 'We're going to reduce this eight hours. Next week I'm going to check.' The reallocation attacks three pillars of male well-being simultaneously: physical fitness, economic purpose, and prosocial connection. He emphasizes that simply doing these three things puts a young man in the top 8% of his demographic, which over time leads to voluntary celibacy (i.e., a relationship) rather than involuntary celibacy.
Replaces easy dopamine hits (social media, porn, gaming) with effort-driven reward loops (exercise endorphins, earned income, social bonding through service). Builds resilience through real-world rejection practice. Creates structure and external accountability.
Scott has applied this personally with multiple young men he mentors. He describes the transformative effect of just checking in and asking basic questions.
The first thing I do, the first hack is I say, 'Unlock your phone.' … within about 5 to 7 minutes, I can find eight hours of time … we're going to reallocate that capital into three things. The first is we're going to get really [__] strong. … The second thing is we got to make some money. … The final thing is at least three times a month we're going to put ourselves in a group sitting where we are trying to achieve something great in the agency of others.
