Maintain a healthy body composition (if already healthy)
From the deconstruction of rodent and monkey studies, Norton concludes that avoiding overeating and maintaining a healthy body weight confers the same longevity benefits as the so-called 'calorie restriction' seen in animal models. Human trials also show no added benefit from intermittent fasting when calories are equal. Thus, if someone is already lean and healthy, they do not need to endure fasting or undereating for longevity. A normal, balanced diet that sustains a healthy weight and body composition is sufficient.
If you already maintain a healthy body composition, you don't need to fast. You don't need to be in a calorie deficit. You're good.
