Cut all contact with the limerent object
Anna says if you could just get over it, you would have by now. The secrecy and unrequited nature are what keep the hope alive. She gets pushback that the other person should leave, but she points out that the limerent is the one losing their happiness, so they must take action. She recommends leaving the job if the person is a coworker. This is the first and most critical step.
Eliminates the intermittent reinforcement (texts, glimpses, social media) that fuels the dopamine cycle of hope and despair.
I say treat it as heroin. This is you can't just be friends. You if you can be friends, be friends. If you can just get over it, get over it. But if you could do that, you would have done it by now. And so if you're suffering still, it's time to cut ties.
