IP6 supplementation for immune support or iron chelation
Tim used IP6 to fight a persistent sinus infection that started after a bone sinus lift and while his liver enzymes were elevated after an anti-parasite protocol. He had been recommended it by health coach Justin Maguire. IP6 is naturally found in whole grains, legumes, and nuts, but as a supplement it is a concentrated source that draws iron out through the stool. Tim combined it with daily colostrum powder and found that he didn't catch colds even when people around him were sick. He stopped after three weeks because the sinus improved and he wanted to avoid over-chelation. The mechanism is twofold: as an antioxidant it reduces oxidative stress, and as a metal chelator it binds excess iron that can fuel inflammation and abnormal cell growth. It seems particularly useful for men who tend to accumulate iron and for those with chronic infections where iron may feed pathogens.
IP6 is a phosphorylated inositol molecule. In the gut, it binds iron and other metals, preventing absorption and dragging them out through the bowel. Systemically, it acts as an antioxidant, reducing oxidative stress that can impair immune function.
Tim: ‘my sinuses have got significantly better since being on it for about three weeks now. And uh yesterday I thought I was coming down with you know when your the back of your throat starts feeling a bit funny … woke up and it was completely gone.’
It acts as an antioxidant and a metal collater. And you obviously don't want to do that too much depending on your iron status.
