Dry sauna toxin removal protocol
This protocol was tested as a direct response to the LA wildfire toxin spike. Bryan's team chose dry sauna because evidence for toxin removal is more compelling than for infrared. The results were stunning: after 23 sessions, multiple markers that had been at or near the 95th population percentile returned to virtually undetectable levels. For example, MEP, MEHP, and perlate dropped 100% to undetectable; NAP and H EMA dropped 56%. Mike Malin said he'd never seen such a dramatic reduction from any toxin-removal therapy. However, Bryan is careful to note that some natural tapering would have occurred anyway, and that the sauna effect is likely synergistic with the Blueprint diet's high antioxidant and fiber content, plus HBOT. The takeaway is that sauna can be a powerful adjunct for acute toxin removal, especially for non-PFAS compounds, but it works best within a holistic protocol, not as a standalone fix.
Sauna induces heavy sweating, which can excrete certain toxins like phthalates and VOCs that partition into sweat. It also triggers hormetic stress responses, upregulating heat shock proteins and antioxidant enzymes, which may help the liver and cells clear toxins. Mike Malin notes that the dramatic reduction seen in Bryan's post-fire markers likely represents both direct sweat elimination and the body's natural metabolic clearance accelerated by the systemic stress response. Crucially, PFAS such as PFOA/PFOS are not efficiently excreted in sweat because kidneys reabsorb them; thus sauna is less effective for forever chemicals, though general antioxidant support still helps.
Bryan himself followed this protocol religiously (23 sessions in ~3 weeks). He was shocked by the magnitude of reduction in previously elevated compounds from the fires. He also learned he should not use polyester towels in the sauna to avoid re-exposure.
We recently started this protocol. It's 200 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. That's 93° C and it's a dry sauna. We chose that because it has more compelling evidence and we were shocked at the efficacy of toxin removal.
