Intermittent Hypoxic–Hyperoxic Training (LiveO2)
Nick's environmental medicine doctor, Dr. Borschmidt, insisted that oxygen is the number one priority before any other detox measure. The LiveO2 system creates intermittent hypoxia, which is thought to dilate and constrict capillaries, flushing stagnant areas and improving lymphatic and blood flow. Nick highlights that the model is used in many European biological medicine clinics, though robust detox-specific trials are lacking. He distinguishes it from simple breathwork by the controlled, machine-driven swings in oxygen saturation.
Nick explains: "this sort of push-pull mechanism with low oxygen, high oxygen kind of opens up these capillaries." The hypoxic phase forces vasoconstriction, followed by hyperoxic vasodilation, which is believed to increase microvascular perfusion and oxygenate tissues where circulation was previously closed.
Nick reports: "When I really pushed it with the LiveO2, I could feel my entire body completely flushed like as if you have a sort of... it's very profound." The sensation was a whole-body flushing, unlike anything from regular exercise.
The number one thing is oxygen.
