Low-Carb Mediterranean Meal Planning

WhatWhen dining at a Mediterranean restaurant, opt for grilled fish or lamb dishes, paired with a large Greek salad. Skip pita bread and hummus to maintain a low-carb profile.
WhenWhen eating at a Mediterranean restaurant.
For whomIndividuals following a low-carb diet who are dining at a Mediterranean restaurant.
WhyGrilled fish and lamb are rich in healthy fats and protein. Olive oil, often used in Greek salads, provides beneficial polyphenols. Skipping high-carb items like pita and hummus helps adhere to a low-carb diet.
CaveatsEnsure to specify 'no pita bread and hummus' when ordering the Greek salad.
Personal experience

The host used the 'Ask Ben AI' to get this specific recommendation for a low-carb Mediterranean meal.

All right, so at a Mediterranean spot, you've got some great low carb options. I go for something like a grilled fish or lamb dish. Both are packed with healthy fats and protein. Pair that with a big old Greek salad, but skip the pita bread and hummus if you're really keeping it low carb. And load up on the olive oil for those polyphenols.

Wearing Weighted Vests/Apparel

WhatIncorporate weighted vests, shorts, or compression leggings with embedded weights into daily activities like walking or gym workouts.
WhenDuring walks (e.g., on a treadmill), or during gym workouts.
For whomAnyone looking to improve proprioception, bone density, or increase calorie expenditure during movement.
WhyIncreases proprioception (body awareness), bone density, and calorie burn. Textured weighted apparel can further enhance body awareness.

The host started using weighted apparel more after an interview with Melissa Vanic, who emphasized the importance of gravity and textured surfaces for proprioception. He specifically uses Omorpho products, which are textured and weighted. This practice is distinct from traditional weighted vests by incorporating texture for enhanced sensory feedback.

Mechanism

The added weight increases the gravitational load on the body, stimulating bone density and requiring more energy expenditure. The textured surface of some weighted apparel provides additional sensory input, enhancing proprioception.

Personal experience

The host wears an Omorpho textured weighted vest and weighted shorts while walking on his treadmill. He notes that the textured aspect provides a 'weird increase in body awareness'.

However, dude, I'm wearing a weighted vest. while you just to rub it in. Walking my treadmill wearing a weighted vest. I'm wearing the Life Network t-shirt even though you can only see the F. And um have you seen these things? The these amorpho wait so amorpho it's kind of interesting. I've been getting into it more since I interviewed uh Melissa Vanic who has been on the podcast a few times to talk about foot health. And in our last podcast, she talked about the importance of propriception and she brought up two things. Gravity and gravity increasing body awareness.

Also said
“Of course, you know, gravity via weighted vest also increases bone density, calorie burn, etc. Uh but then she also talked about talked about um textured surfaces on clothing, on mats, on flooring, on insoles of shoes, something that that her and her company specialize in helping to create.”— Explains the multi-faceted benefits and the role of textured surfaces.

Eating Carrots with Peanut Butter and Honey

WhatConsume carrots smeared with peanut butter and Wiseearth honey as a healthy snack or dessert.
WhenAlmost every day with lunch.
For whomAnyone looking for a healthy, enjoyable snack, particularly those interested in reducing chronic inflammation and boosting energy/mental clarity.
WhyA 'guilty pleasure' that is also a 'killer health hack'. The Wiseearth honey specifically is noted for its anti-inflammatory properties and adaptogenic benefits.

This snack is a personal favorite of the host, reminiscent of 'ants on a stick'. The key ingredient is Wiseearth honey, which is not just a sweetener but a functional food infused with adaptogenic extracts. The host and his family have observed significant improvements in energy levels, mental clarity, and even women's hormonal balance since incorporating this honey. It's presented as a simple yet powerful way to leverage the benefits of adaptogens and reduce systemic inflammation.

Mechanism

The Wiseearth honey is infused with adaptogenic extracts, which are believed to reduce chronic inflammation throughout the body and contribute to improved energy levels and mental clarity.

Personal experience

The host eats this almost daily with lunch and considers it a 'guilty pleasure' and a 'killer health hack'. His entire family takes Wiseearth honey, and they've noticed significant differences in energy, clarity of mind, and women's hormones.

And I almost every day with lunch have a carrot that's smeared with peanut butter and honey. And I've been using that honey and it's awesome. It's like it's like when your parents used to make little ants on a stick with the celery and the peanut butter and the raisins. So, health health hack for people. There you go. That's a killer health hack.

Also said
“The thing with their honey is that it massively reduces chronic inflammation through the whole body, not just a focused area. So, I love it. our our entire family is taking it and we've noticed significant uh differences in like energy levels, clarity of mind. Uh there's there's help with uh women's hormones.”— Details the specific health benefits attributed to the Wiseearth honey.

Using Minimalist/Toe Shoes (e.g., PUVA)

WhatWear minimalist shoes with a wide toe box, such as PUVA shoes, for workouts and potentially daily wear.
WhenFor workouts (e.g., at the gym) and as a preferred daily shoe.
For whomIndividuals interested in improving foot health, natural movement, and body awareness.
WhyPromotes natural foot mechanics, improves foot health, and enhances proprioception compared to traditional shoes. A wide toe box is crucial for proper toe splay.
CaveatsMay take some getting used to; not considered fashionable by everyone.

The host initially had reservations about wearing 'monkey shoes' (toe shoes) but found PUVA shoes to be a superior experience compared to other barefoot shoe brands like Vivo Barefoot, which he previously used. He highlights the importance of a wide toe box for functional foot health, despite potential aesthetic drawbacks. The transition to these shoes was influenced by discussions around foot health and proprioception.

Mechanism

Minimalist shoes allow the foot to move more naturally, strengthening intrinsic foot muscles and improving sensory feedback from the ground. A wide toe box prevents compression of the toes, which is essential for balance and proper foot function.

Personal experience

The host started wearing PUVA shoes to his gym (Mission Strength) and they have become his 'go-to' footwear, even though his wife doesn't find them fashionable. He previously used Vivo Barefoot but prefers PUVA for comfort and experience.

So, I was connected with uh Puva shoes, right? You you told me about these shoes. They were at uh the health optimization summit and uh they they actually sent me a pair of shoes. Very very kind of them to do that. And I thought, man, I'm not ever gonna wear monkey shoes. Like that's that's what I call these things because you put your individual toes in them. So I started wearing them to Mission Strength. And I have to say, dude, they are like my go-to now.

Also said
“But PUVA, totally different experience, super comfortable. It takes me a minute to get them on because you you really do notice when you wear uh so I'm a big This is something that Sean Wells and I joke about. Um we're he and I both are really into uh retro Air Jordan shoes.”— Compares PUVA to other minimalist shoes and highlights the comfort and noticeable difference.
“But from a functional standpoint, nothing beats a toe shoe with a wide toe box.”— Emphasizes the functional benefit of the wide toe box.

AI Clone Coaches (Ask Ben AI)

0:00 - 2:00, 10:00 - 15:00

Life Network has developed an AI version of Ben Greenfield, 'Ask Ben AI', accessible through their app, which can answer health and wellness questions via voice or text, drawing exclusively from Ben's vetted content.

Why this matters: This AI offers personalized advice directly reflecting Ben Greenfield's expertise, differentiating it from general AI models by focusing on a specific expert's knowledge base and approach.

Background

Ben Greenfield and the Life Network team had been working on an AI clone for some time, but the interactive voice call feature was a surprising development.

The 'Ask Ben AI' is designed to provide users with instant access to Ben Greenfield's extensive knowledge without having to sift through his books or podcasts. Unlike general AI chatbots like Grock or ChatGPT, this AI is specifically trained on Ben's published works, podcasts, and curated content. This ensures that the advice given aligns with his philosophy and recommendations. The feature allows for both text-based chat and voice calls, simulating a direct conversation with Ben. The host recounts a personal experience where his mother found the AI incredibly efficient, confirming and exceeding information she had gathered over four months in just two minutes.

Personal experience

The host demonstrated the 'Ask Ben AI' by asking for low-carb Mediterranean meal suggestions, receiving specific recommendations like grilled fish/lamb with Greek salad (skipping pita/hummus) and olive oil. He also shared his mother's experience, where the AI provided more comprehensive information on a subject (DMSO) in two minutes than she had found in four months of personal research.

The difference is this is drawing from all of my books, my podcast, and my vetted content. So, you know, not not that I want to sound hubristic, but like if if you look at me as an expert and you want my advice, not necessarily whatever Grock or GPT or Claude or whatever has aggregated, this allows you as long as you got the app in your back pocket to be able to, you know, not flip through 700 pages of Boundless, for example, but just literally give me a call and you can keep that conversation going.

Also said
“My mom actually called and she said in 4 months of research around a particular subject, I think it was like DMSO or something that they've been looking into for a while and gaining kind of a little bit of just handwritten information around. She's like in literally in 2 minutes in a conversation with the Ask Ben AI, I was able to confirm and exceed all the information I had gathered in 4 months.”— Illustrates the AI's efficiency and depth of knowledge from the expert's content.

Monetizable AI Bots for Community Groups

15:00 - 20:00

Life Network is developing a feature allowing users to create public or private groups within the app, where group owners can spin up and train their own AI bots on specific content, potentially monetizing access to these AI-powered groups.

Why this matters: This initiative aims to empower content creators, personal trainers, and gym owners to build and monetize their communities with AI assistance, offering tailored information and interaction.

The Life Network app is evolving its community features. The existing 'forums' page will become a 'community page' with discussions, events, and groups. A key upcoming feature is the ability for group owners to create and train AI bots specific to their group's content. For example, a mushroom foraging group owner could train an AI on their foraging knowledge, PDFs, and discussions. Members could then ask this AI bot questions relevant to the group's subject matter. This allows for highly specialized, real-time information delivery. The platform is exploring subscription models for these AI-powered groups, providing a pathway for creators to monetize their expertise and community building efforts within the app. This is seen as a 'game changer' for how communities communicate and access specialized information.

We have a new um we we have our forums page right now as as an example. The forums page will turn into next week. So, by the time this comes out, you will see it as the community page. And the community tab will have discussions. So those forums, uh, but they're also going to have events and groups. Here's the cool thing. Right now, we're exploring a person can create a group that's public and or private, which means it's just invite only. And the uh owner of that group can say, I want to spin up an AI bot.

Also said
“So it could be that an expert creates a group inside life network in the community tab and wants to make it subscription. This is part of our effort to create uh a pathway for the creator economy.”— Highlights the monetization aspect for creators.
“You can ask that AI anything pertaining to the um category information about that subject matter in that group. So the AI that lives inside that group and it can be toggled on and off by the group creator um has a voice and that can be your soup to nuts a toz information about mushroom foraging to to use your example or sauna usage or cold plun I mean the the list goes on and on.”— Explains the scope and customization of group-specific AI.

Local Life Feature for Real-World Wellness

20:00 - 27:00

Life Network is introducing a 'Local Life' feature, a directory similar to Yelp, but specifically curated for wellness-focused businesses and experiences, aiming to connect users with healthy options and like-minded individuals in their local communities.

Why this matters: This feature bridges the gap between digital health information and real-world application, promoting physical meetups and vetted local resources for healthy living, including unique 'experiential' options beyond traditional businesses.

The 'Local Life' feature, accessible via a 'places' tab in the app, is designed to help users find and connect with local wellness resources. This goes beyond typical restaurant or gym directories by including options like parks with fitness circuits, bodies of water for cold plunging, and other nature-based experiences. The goal is to facilitate real-world interactions and community building around health and wellness. Users will be able to find vetted establishments (e.g., paleo-friendly, seed oil-free restaurants) and potentially even see which places are frequented by other Life Network members. The feature will also allow for private group messaging to organize meetups, addressing the host's concern about translating online connections into physical interactions.

We want to take it to what we're kind of coining as local life. We have just started work on our places feature, which is a directory. That directory, think of it like most of the listeners here probably are familiar with Yelp, right? You go to Yelp and you type in, you know, uh, I want a nice dinner restaurant and it gives you rankings and reviews. It's the same kind of thing that we're putting inside the Life Network app.

Also said
“That will be the beginning of how do we touch how do we take all this really cool information that we're learning, curated information, but now touch it down practically into your life where you live.”— Emphasizes the practical, local application of health information.
“We actually believe in grounding. We actually believe in nature. We actually believe in getting out there and uh interacting with people in outside settings. So, how do we incorporate that into the feature? That's not something that you'll find with Yelp.”— Highlights the unique focus on nature and experiential wellness compared to existing platforms.

Life Print Kit (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis + Coaching)

35:00 - 45:00

Life Network offers a 'Life Print Kit' which includes a hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA) to provide insights into mineral balance, adrenal function, and metabolic type, followed by a doctor consultation and a 3-month coaching program for personalized nutrition and movement plans.

Why this matters: This kit provides an affordable and non-invasive entry point for personalized health data and coaching, particularly for individuals who are needle-averse or overwhelmed by complex health information, aiming to democratize access to foundational biohacking.

Background

The host learned about HTMA from Dr. Leland Stillman, an expert in functional integrative medicine, and found it highly informative for personalizing supplementation and uncovering hidden health issues like high copper levels.

The Life Print Kit is designed as a starting point for individuals seeking to improve their health but are unsure where to begin. It addresses the common barrier of blood tests by utilizing a hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA), which is non-invasive and can reveal a surprising amount of information about the body's mineral status, adrenal system, sympathetic/parasympathetic balance, and metabolic tendencies (carb vs. fat oxidation). After purchasing the kit, users receive an HTMA kit, send in a hair sample, and within two weeks, get a comprehensive, beautifully designed report. This is followed by a consultation with a staff doctor and then a 3-month coaching program. The coaching team uses the HTMA data to create personalized supplement, movement, and nutrition plans, offering ongoing support and ensuring noticeable improvements within the 90-day period. The emphasis is on affordability and accessibility, contrasting it with more expensive concierge health services.

Personal experience

The host personally uses HTMA quarterly and found it crucial for identifying his specific supplementation needs and uncovering dangerously high copper levels he was unaware of. He emphasizes its power in revealing 'hidden beneath the surface' issues.

We have a product called a life print kit. We've systematized this. We've essentially said you purchase this. We've made it ultraaf affordable. You can get it at golifemarket.com... you purchase this, the HTMA kit gets sent out to you, you cut some hair, it gets in, within a two-eek window, you have a full custom, beautiful report.

Also said
“I learned about this originally from our good friend Dr. Leland Stillman who's an incredible functional integrative medicine doctor and a core contributing expert, one of the original at Life Network when we were getting it off the ground.”— Credits the source of his HTMA knowledge and its expert backing.
“The other thing that it pointed out is that I had this was a crazy circumstance, but I had scary high copper levels. We wouldn't have known this if we hadn't have done the HTMA.”— Provides a concrete example of a critical health insight gained from HTMA.
“We want to make sure that in 90 days, from the time that you signed up to get your Life Brink kit to the time that you end in 90 days, we want to make sure that you are on the right track. You're feeling better. It's not placebo. It's very very uh noticeable. You you feel it, you see it. We're here to ensure your outcome.”— Highlights the program's focus on tangible, measurable results within a specific timeframe.

Omorpho Weighted Apparel

Tool

A brand of weighted vests, shorts, and compression apparel that incorporates textured surfaces to enhance proprioception and increase the benefits of weighted movement.

Omorpho apparel goes beyond traditional weighted gear by integrating textured surfaces, which, according to Melissa Vanic (an expert on foot health), significantly increases body awareness and proprioception. This combination of weight and texture is believed to amplify benefits like bone density improvement and calorie burn during activities such as walking or working out. The host finds the textured aspect provides a 'weird increase in body awareness' that is hard to describe without experiencing it.

vs alternatives

Distinguished from standard weighted vests by the inclusion of textured surfaces for enhanced proprioception.

Personal experience

The host uses an Omorpho textured weighted vest and shorts while walking on his treadmill.

I dug out my Omoro vest, which is like this textured weighted vest, but I'm also wearing, it might be hard for me to show you. I probably can't, but I'm wearing their shorts. Their shorts are like a compression short that's lined with little weights. So, it's weighted shorts, weighted vests, and then they have like weighted um compression leggings you can wear in the gym and a weighted compression top. So, the cool thing about it though is it's textured, so you get this weird increase in body awareness.

Also said
“Of course, you know, gravity via weighted vest also increases bone density, calorie burn, etc. Uh but then she also talked about talked about um textured surfaces on clothing, on mats, on flooring, on insoles of shoes, something that that her and her company specialize in helping to create.”— Explains the scientific rationale behind textured weighted apparel.

PUVA Shoes

Tool

Minimalist toe shoes with a wide toe box, recommended for improving foot health and natural movement.

PUVA shoes are a type of minimalist footwear where each toe is separated, and the shoe features a wide toe box. The host, initially skeptical and referring to them as 'monkey shoes,' found them to be a superior and more comfortable experience compared to other barefoot shoe brands he previously used, like Vivo Barefoot. The primary benefit emphasized is the functional advantage of a wide toe box for proper foot mechanics and toe splay, which is crucial for balance and overall foot health, despite potential aesthetic concerns.

vs alternatives

Preferred over Vivo Barefoot for comfort and overall experience, despite both being barefoot shoe companies. Contrasted with traditional shoes like retro Air Jordans, which the host also collects, highlighting the functional priority of PUVA.

Personal experience

The host started wearing PUVA shoes to his gym and they have become his 'go-to' footwear, replacing his previous preference for Vivo Barefoot. He notes that his wife doesn't find them fashionable.

DisclosureLife Network recently started carrying Wiseearth Honey in their Life Market.

Wiseearth Honey is highlighted as a 'magical' product due to its unique formulation. It uses honey as a highly bioavailable carrier for adaptogenic extracts. The host emphasizes its ability to 'massively reduce chronic inflammation through the whole body' and reports significant improvements in energy levels, clarity of mind, and even women's hormonal balance within his family. It's presented as a superior alternative to conventional honey products.

vs alternatives

Implied to be superior to 'plastic teddy bear shaped honey' due to its functional benefits from adaptogenic infusions.

Personal experience

The host is 'obsessed' with this honey and uses it almost daily with carrots and peanut butter. His entire family consumes it and has noticed significant positive effects.

Another product, by the way, uh that that we were introduced to is Wiseear honey. My team laughs because I've been obsessed with this honey. Wise W. We just started carrying it in the life market. This is a uh they used honey because it's highly bioavailable, but they've taken adaptogenic extracts and infused it in the honey. This stuff is insanely good.

Waveatch

Tool Sponsored · disclosed

A wearable device that uses sound frequencies to influence energy, moods, and brain function, with programs for various issues like allergies, sleep, and insect bites.

DisclosureLife Network has brought Waveatch into their Life Market.

The Waveatch operates by emitting audio frequencies, similar to high-pitched sounds used in mosquito repellents, that are often inaudible to humans but affect the body. The host initially approached it with skepticism but was convinced after researching the science and experiencing its effects. The device offers over a hundred 'recipes' or programs, including those tailored to circadian rhythms, changing frequencies throughout the night for optimal sleep. The host notes a 'noticeable difference' when wearing it and wishes it had a stopwatch function to replace his regular watch entirely.

vs alternatives

Initially thought it was similar to the Apollo wristband (which uses haptic sensations), but discovered the Waveatch uses audible (though often high-frequency) sound, not just vibration.

Personal experience

The host and his wife, Shauna, have both noticed a 'noticeable difference' when using the Waveatch. He has been experimenting with its various programs, including those for sleep, and wishes it had a stopwatch function.

Everything from in fact you just had the folks on uh that that created the waveatch. That thing actually works by the way. I don't know if you've used it but that thing's awesome. So yeah, we brought that into the life market. How do you explain to people the waveatch? Well, it, you know, so I go over to their booth and there's uh uh uh this incredible lady explaining her her background and why she created this. And then her sons were there helping her. And it was all about just frequency uh using sound to infiltrate your body to um influence your energy and your moods and your brain.

Also said
“At first, I thought it was like the Apollo wristband, you know, that just kind of like vibrates to produce a haptic sensation, which works and I love, but if you put your ear down next to the watch, um, or if you have it turned up all the way, you can even hear it if it's down by your side, it's it's producing like an audio frequency almost like imagine, you know, the high-pitch audio frequency that that some kind of like mosquito repellent generator would use or or some high pitch sound a dog can hear that a human can't.”— Clarifies the mechanism of action and differentiates it from similar devices.
“I mean, I know you've played with it, but just for people who are listening, you can scroll through like I think there's over a hundred different recipes on there for like allergies, sinus issues, insect bites, every single hour of sleep to match your circadian rhythm and change the audio frequency at 11:00 p.m. and midnight and 1:00 a.m.”— Illustrates the wide range of applications and customization options.
