Wider Grip Pull-Ups for Women
Standard pull-up coaching often prescribes hands shoulder-width apart. However, Stacy Sims explains that women's center of gravity is lower (near the belly button) and their shoulder girdle width differs, making the standard grip less efficient. By going wider, women can shift the load to the lats, which are stronger and better positioned for the movement. This simple adjustment can make pull-ups more achievable.
A wider grip changes the angle of pull, allowing the larger latissimus dorsi muscles to contribute more, compensating for the biomechanical disadvantage of a lower center of gravity.
for women, going wider, you want to go wider so you can actually activate the lats instead of just the shoulders.
